Obesity surgery, also known as bariatric surgery, is the general term for surgical procedures performed to promote long-term weight loss and reduce obesity-related health issues in individuals who are severely overweight. These surgical interventions aim to limit food intake and digestion by either reducing the size of the stomach or altering the digestive system. As a result, patients are able to lose weight and experience a reduction in obesity-related health problems. Obesity surgery is considered an effective method for controlling obesity-related diseases.
