Liposuction is a surgical intervention in which the fat accumulated in different body parts removes. This procedure is a technique to shape the body by eliminating more fatty tissue and sometimes even re-injecting some of it into areas where it may be necessary.

Preparation

As with any surgical procedure, a prior medical examination is necessary to detect a possible anomaly. Surgical technique and incision Usually takes between 1 and 2 hours, but the duration varies (from 30 minutes to several hours) depending on the area and amount. First, the surgeon makes a small incision to insert a hollow tube called a liposuction cannula. The other end of this cannula is attached to a vacuum generating machine or a special syringe. The surgeon breaks up and absorbs the fat by moving the cannula through the fat deposits under the skin. You may feel vibration or friction if the procedure does under local anesthesia. Recovery After Liposuction

  • It isn’t uncommon to feel a little depressed in the first days or weeks after surgery; know that this is normal and will ease as it heals.
  • Healing is a gradual process. Your plastic surgeon will tell you to start walking as soon as possible but not to do any strenuous activity for 2 to 4 weeks.
  • Stitches will remove in 5 to 10 days, and you can return to work 2 or 3 days after the intervention or at least two weeks, depending on the scope of liposuction and your surgeon’s recommendations.
  • Swelling and bruises disappear in the first 1-2 months after liposuction; however, minimal swelling may persist for six months or longer.

How Long Does It Take to See Liposuction Results?

Liposuction results will be progressive. However, since enough fat takes to start noticing a more stylized figure, you can see the first effects immediately, but you will have to wait a little longer to see the precise results.

Initially, the skin of the treated area will appear saggier as it will need to tighten to adapt to the new body contour. This process may take more or less time from person to person, but it takes about six months for the skin to tighten.
